http://www.thecharactertdblog.blogspot.com
I created this new blog to be a resource for people looking to learn how to rig and do cloth sims and what not as well as be a place for other TD's to critique and comment, share tips and whatever else.

Team Blog from work
So I work at Grand Canyon University right now as a Lead Multimedia Designer, and my team and I have started a blog of random art and other things. The trick is we take a name that is randomly generated and then have to draw our interpretation of it. Fun stuff, go check it out at:

Jason Ryan Animation
So I finally got some money together to get a tutorial from a phenominal animator named Jason Ryan. He has worked for Don Bluth in the past on films I grew up with, and now works for Disney and is a Mentor for Animation Mentor. He is SO freakin' nice he even made time to send ME(a lowly-nobody animator) a jump rope rigg to help with the tutorial. How cool is that!? I'm sure he is busy with a billion other things. SO if you are looking to improve your skills head over to www.jasonryananimation.com and buy some of his awesome tutorials! And if someone happens to have a torrent of his files, shoot them in the face......With a water gun of course....
and kindly turn them down, cause crime doesn't pay. ARF!

A troll in central...nowhere

I actually spent a couple hours on this one(mostly the shading of the upper lip). Upon second review, he reminded me of a mix between Shrek and Scooby Doo....maybe its just me. Anyways, it's supposed to be a troll. I was just practicing the lighting and the sub-surface scattering on his ears mainly.

Death Metal Guy
This is the latest painting I did, based off a sketch I did randomly one day. It started out as just some guy standing there, but that was lame of course so I added a guitar and changed the pose a little. Still not sure if the silhouette is crap or not but I think you would get the idea if it were all shadow.

How to trian your Stitch?
Ok, so the new Dreamworks animation teaser trailer came out for "How to train your dragon".
One of the directors (Chris Sanders) used to work for Disney is best known for directing Lilo and Stitch, who by happened to be the voice of the little alien as well. I would just like to point out the influence that I saw from the teaser... it might just be a coincidence BUT, see for your self.

Hmmmmm....
Call me Crazy....
same big eyes, stubby arms, fat neck, big teeth bearing grin?
Oh well,
I still have mixed feelings about this movie, although the story does seem lame. We shall see.

For the kiddies
A Dragon Hunt...
I recently took a trip to visit some family in Utah and decided to take advantage of some of my eager nieces and nephews. We took a trip to the mountains and I came up with a quick idea to film a short story. It made for good compositing practice as well. Some parts did end up a little rushed but I'm ok with the outcome.
